Ferry to Dauphin Island

We drove to Fort Morgan and took the ferry across to Dauphin Island

Of course we got to the loading point WAY too early (as we do), and we were the first to arrive, (with the exception of the person at the kiosk who took our $15 for our ticket to cross).

“All Aboard”

We had an early lunch at a ‘hole in the wall’ restaurant. Chosen in haste since we both needed the bathroom, and I was hungry. That said, the rustic view was neat and we watched Pelicans diving for fish. There was an Osprey nest nearby that was cool, but too far off for phone cameras to do justice.

We then headed off to take the long rout to the Aquarium.

No Pavement, No Problem!

But in a much more real sense, we turned around on the pavement and drove back😬

The Aquarium had been there for a while and it showed on the outside. But it was well managed with good intentions, especially since their signage correctly included The Gulf of Mexico.

Taking pictures through glass doesn’t work well, but I videoed this fella for a while.

The funniest incident of the day was when Lisa reached into Shark and Stingray pool.

As she leaned over to touch the Stingray, her purse slipped off of her shoulder, fell into the pool and biffed a nearby shark on the head.

Fortunately, the shark was unharmed and her purse proved to be water resistant.

We headed for the gift shop and Lisa tried on a hat. Which I really liked, but she whispered “I’m not buying a hat from here”

We headed home after an interesting experience. For me the best part was Lisa attempting to kill an innocent live exhibit, followed closely by getting on and off of the ferry. Lisa enjoyed the Ferry rides.
