Campos Family Farm (Updated)

We left Gulf Shores yesterday morning and made our way to Campos Family Farm.

This place was hard to find and off the beaten track. We were greeted by a pack of dogs in a very rural location. I admit that it was a bit scary and Lisa asked me if we should just turn around and leave.

But we stayed, set up, and then made our way over to the Farm Shop.
At the shop we bought bread, various jams, salsa, chocolate cake, and raw milk.
A little later there was an enormous commotion at the back of the Van.
Meet Banjo, one of the dog pack. He is four months old and a ‘trainee’ farm dog.
The noise was him chasing several Guineafowl.

Later, after a delicious supper of our farm wares, we wandered off to see the farm
The Guineafowl cackling at Lisa’s outfit!
😆😆😆
The pigs tried to bite Lisa. To be fair, the Guineafowl tried to warn her😆

“Yes, did you want something?”
It poured with rain all night, yet we slept pretty well, although the night was punctuated by short bursts of howling dogs and other odd sounds. At the Farm Shop, one of the owners, Holly told us that they kept 6-7 dogs to protect the farm from Coyotes, Bears, Panthers, and other less deadly animals. Luckily we did not see or hear any of these, maybe thanks to Banjo and Co spending the night under our Van😆.
All in all Campos Family Farm was a good experience. Absolutely a case of ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’.
There are thousands of places like this all over the US and we are heading out this morning to find them.
PS. As we were getting ready to leave the farm, there was a loud and seemingly close gunshot!
We suspected that we knew what it was…and sure enough, over by the cow shed we saw Jessie (owner) driving a tractor with a dead cow in the bucket.
A real life working farm.
